SANTUBONG: The State Barisan Nasional (BN), anchored by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), should give a clear message to the opposition that they (BN) are still a strong government and will retain the majority seats in the upcoming 13th general election.
Petra Jaya MP Datuk Fadillah Yusof, who is also the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, said it was important for the state BN to have a strong majority win in order that development plans would go on smoothly.
“The opposition will do whatever they can to reduce the BN majority in the state by giving empty promises to the people.
“They may use ways to manipulate the people to go against the government. We should not take this matter lightly.
They will target the leaders, starting from the Prime Minister down to our Chief Minister Fadillah was speaking during a ceremony to set up the election committee for his constituency of Petra Jaya, at One Hotel Santubong here recently.
He added that the people are now more aware of BN’s development plan and know how to differentiate between genuine and fake parties.
“As voters, I believe they will not be easily fooled by empty promises from the opposition,” he said.
Meanwhile, PBB Deputy President Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman, together with the MPs for Semariang and Satok, wanted Fadillah to be retained as the BN candidate for Petra Jaya this coming general election.
“After serving for two terms, I strongly feel that Fadillah have never had any problems in meeting the people or listening to their problems,” he said.
About 300 PBB members from N6 Tupong attended the two-day ceremony.
