‘JPUNS members are good followers’

September 19, 2010, Sunday

KUCHING: Individuals behind Umno promoters group JPUNS are good party members for trying to champion efforts to bring the party into the state.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice youth chief Pandi Suhaili said he was impressed with this group of people who want to set up Umno here in line with the party’s president Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak's insistence that Umno would not spread its wings to Sarawak when PBB is not strong.

“There is nothing wrong for supporters of any party to ‘demand’ the party give what they want, and it is also a commendable efforts by this group of people to pave ways for Umno to come as it could enhance the good working relationship between Umno and other BN parties in Sarawak,” he said when contacted yesterday.

According to him, it seemed that those who against the move to bring in UMNO was not interested to help BN because they did not look at the bigger picture.
“To them, what matters is not to bring Umno into Sarawak. Period. It doesn’t matter to them what happens to the cordial relationship between Umno and other BN parties in Sarawak,” he added.

The vice youth chief was commenting on claims that JPUNS already has 70,000 members in the state and would participate in the next state election as reported yesterday.

He subsequently urged the rakyat not to be swayed by this group of people who seem to be blinded by their own cause and disregard the potential damage it could inflict on BN as a whole.

“In politics, there are always individuals who would not stop trying to cause disturbance to the political system … not so much that they have something new for the electorate but because it is just that they are not at the centre of the political system and they want to change it to make them at the centre mainly for personal interest,” he said.
